The Child and Family Services Review Board's mandate falls under several pieces of legislation. Click on the link below to access the full text of the legislation and regulations:
The Child and Family Services Review Board previously had jurisdiction to receive applications and grant orders prohibiting the release of identifying information to adoptive persons and birth parents. In September 2007, in the Cheskes decision, the Superior Court of Ontario ruled that certain sections of the Vital Statistics Act, which governed adoption information disclosure, were unconstitutional. As a result, the Board no longer has this jurisdiction. On December 10, 2007 the Government of Ontario introduced new adoption information legislation.
