The Child and Family Services Review Board is governed by the Education Act. Please click on the appropriate link below to access the legislation and regulation.

Section 311.7 of the Education Act provides the Board with the authority to hear appeals of school board decisions to expel pupils.

The following persons may appeal a school board’s decision to expel a pupil, whether the pupil is expelled from his or her school only or from all schools of the school board:

  • The pupil’s parent or guardian, unless,
    1. the pupil is at least 18 years old, or
    2. the pupil is 16 or 17 years old and has withdrawn from parental control.
  • The pupil, if,
    1. the pupil is at least 18 years old, or
    2. the pupil is 16 or 17 years old and has withdrawn from parental control.
  • Such other persons as may be specified by the Child and Family Services Review Board.
